The buildings don’t fall into ruin after they are built but rather rise as ruins before they are built.
Conceived as a imaginary encounter between Robert Smithson's essay A Tour of the Monuments of Passaic, New Jersey from 1967 and collected footage from building contractors archives, "Then & Now" draws attention to the ruins of 20th century as seen through the prism of modernity.
Suggesting a non-rational idea of time in which the tenuous line between past and future past is blurred. The music played along the film was composed by Soulwax for the occasion.

Soulwax transient program for drums and machinery is an installation imagined by Soulwax and Ill-Studio, built for performance and operated by seven musicians. The mono and polyphony frequency instruments used for this performance are all positioned on a giant rug, representing the electronic schematic of the installation.
Between 2016 and 2018, this installation travelled around Europe, America and Asia, from Coachella in Palm Springs
to Royal Festival Hall in London.

Ill-Studio conceptualized an installation at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris for the Pigalle Spring-Summer 2018 fashion show.
The installation explored the lifelong relationship between art and the anatomy of the human body and its performances. The scenography established visual parallels between the past, present and future of modernity, from the Roman Antiquity to the Avant-Garde era of the early 20th century and the Open-Source times we live in today.

In 2017, Ill-Studio was appointed by Converse to rethink the brand’s global look and feel, from photography to design, casting, styling, wording and creative strategies. The result was a 200 pages Brand Visual Center book, setting up guidelines and inspirational content to illustrate Ill-Studio’s strategy and positioning for the brand’s new identity.
